Goodwin joined hands with the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC) to support a local community event in Braidwood aimed at promoting women’s health. The event, organised as part of annual Women’s Health Week, drew great participation from the community.
Titled ‘First Served’, the event aimed to highlight the importance of good health for all women throughout their lives. Quite often, in the quest to provide the best to their families, women tend to forget about their own health and wellbeing, without realising it. The event called for the community to nominate such women, who deserve to put themselves first.
The nominated women were all invited to Braidwood Theatre on 3 September 2018 for a special luncheon hosted by the QPRC. They were treated to a delightful performance by the MC Melanie Greenhalgh, and a sumptuous lunch prepared by Jenni Gough of “The Forager’s Heart” fame. This was followed by a presentation of beautifully-designed hampers, sponsored by the event partners. Goodwin’s hamper went to Jenny Daniher, who was nominated by her 17-year-old son. It was a fitting way to thank all the women, and reward them for the selfless role they play in shaping the community’s overall wellbeing.
Leanne Thompson, Community Liaison Manager, Goodwin, said, “It was inspiring to be part of this initiative. It was a great way to connect to the local community in Braidwood as we are a new service in the region with our home care for older women and men”.
