Convicts, bushrangers, farmers, Ned Kelly, Blinky Bill, an Aussie BBQ and a spot of bush dancing… this month’s #ArmchairTravels took us through Australian history 🤠
For our residents, travelling might look a little different these days, but the joy of discovering, reminiscing and sharing an experience together is still very much there. So we bring the adventure to them!
Our team gets dressed up, the whole site gets involved and, for a day, we create somewhere new to explore - all from the comfort of home.
And this trip became particularly personal. Residents shared their own stories and memories, and we even travelled back to their hometowns, seeing what their suburbs looked like in the 1940s and comparing them with today.
The history we brought to life was wonderful, but hearing the history our residents have lived themselves was even better.

Dementia Action Week may be drawing to a close. The work continues.
As Dementia Action Week draws to a close, the work and advocacy continues.
Goodwin is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the ACT Dementia Navigation Summit, being held at the University of Canberra on 9–10 February 2027.
The Summit will bring together people with lived experience, carers, clinicians, researchers and service providers to help create better pathways to the right care, at the right time. At yesterday’s media launch, our CEO Stephen Holmes and Executive Manager, Care Services Sarah Lewis attended on behalf of Goodwin, showing our support for this important initiative and the collective effort to improve the dementia journey for people across our community.
For Goodwin, dementia advocacy matters because behind every diagnosis is a person, a family and a network of people trying to navigate what can be an incredibly complex journey. We believe older people living with dementia, and those who care for them, deserve support that is compassionate, connected and easier to access.
