The Farrer village café opened doors to public on 1 October 2019 following the launch of the clubhouse last month. Fittingly, it was World Coffee Day, and what better way to celebrate it than with a cup of coffee prepared by our Village Manager Deb.
‘Coffee making is a specialised art and in barista language, it’s all about getting that perfect 25-second shot. Luckily, we have an awesome team here that knows what it takes to make great coffee. And they do it with a swan on top and a smile each time.’
In addition to making great coffee, the café offers an extensive menu that includes gourmet soups, salads, pastries, burgers, quiches, sandwiches, and some insanely decadent desserts.
‘We also do home delivery to residents, which is more like room service for them!’ added Deb.
The café is run by an energetic team headed by supervisor Rose and ably supported by Ben (barista), Hugo, Emily and Edwin (café attendants), and Rajiv (kitchen staff).
‘Our goal is to make the café an extension of the residents’ backyard. It’s only been a few days since we opened but the response has been great. It was particularly heartening to see residents dragging other residents – who aren’t as social – to come out and have a cup of coffee. That sums up what this café exists for – a social hub where everyone can enjoy the warmth and soak in the community spirit that surrounds them’.
The Farrer Village café is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm (Monday to Friday) and 9:30am-3:00pm (Saturday and Sunday).
