Meet Bob: Village Manager, Monash

10/08/2018

Bob Newport joined Goodwin in June as our new Village Manager for Monash retirement living. We now have a discrete manager per village. Bob works alongside David Hull managing Ainslie and Fiona Nilsson managing Crace (Farrer manager to come).

Where have you come to us from, Bob?

Born on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond (Glasgow, Scotland), I moved to Bristol where I later attended the School of Hotel Management. Moved to Australia in 1980. Last sighted in a warmer climate in Coffs Harbour (but enjoying the crisp mornings of Canberra).

As a younger man I worked in hotels/restaurants and cruise shipping companies, starting at the bottom and working up to senior executive positions with companies such as Star City Casino, P&O Cruises, plus commercial catering and, over the last 12 years, retirement living operators across Australia.

What should the retirement living experience be, in your view?

All residents should be treated with the highest levels of respect and dignity; and operators should always search for ways to better cater to resident requirements.

What else can you tell us about yourself?

My wife Debra, granddaughter Ella and myself look forward to discovering our new Territory. We have family in South Australia and Sydney and enjoy being close to my daughter who lives in Bonner.

Welcome to the team Bob!
