Congratulations to Positive Ageing Award winners 2018

Goodwin congratulates Norma Sumner of Uniting Mirinjani aged care on winning the Seniors Advocate 2018 award at the ACT Positive Ageing Awards last Friday, 16 March. Goodwin was proud to sponsor this award, which recognises an ‘outstanding commitment in advocating for seniors’.

The annual Positive Ageing Awards are part of the Council on the Ageing (COTA) ACT Seniors Week celebrations.

A COTA spokesperson said Norma Sumner has showed ‘endless energy and enthusiasm towards her work with residents, staff and visitors’ and that she ‘goes out of her way to make sure that people are heard and treated as an individual’.

Congratulations go also to winners across all Positive Ageing Award categories:

  • Senior Achiever Award – Beverley Flint (Tuggeranong Community Council)
  • Intergenerational Award – Deborah Evans (TJILLARI Justice)
  • Age Friendly Community Award – Philip Piggan (Belconnen Arts Centre Tuggeranong Arts Centre Dementia Australia ACT Division)
  • Seniors Advocate Award – Norma Sumner (Uniting Mirinjani)
  • Transport Services Award – Legacy Canberra Team (Legacy Canberra).

Goodwin also sends special congratulations to our own nominees in the Senior Achiever Award category: Crace Day Club volunteer Lee Hill, Noelene Reid, Registered Nurse at Goodwin House and Magdalena Bell, carer and Ralph Cartwright Centre.

‘You are winners in our eyes,’ said Goodwin Chief Executive Officer, Sue Levy. ‘We are proud to have you representing Goodwin and thank you sincerely for your hard work and dedication.’
