Today, we announce the departure of Board Chair Ms Laurann Yen and welcome incoming Chair Ms Fiona Jolly, effective 20 November 2025, following our Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The AGM highlighted another strong year for Goodwin, with the 2024–25 Annual Activity Statement showcasing continued growth, innovation, and quality across our aged care, retirement living, and home care services.
The meeting also marked a time of change and reflection, as we farewelled Ms Laurann Yen and Mr David Murphy after 11 years of outstanding service. Both were recognised for their significant contributions to Goodwin’s success, stability, and community impact.
At a national level, the aged care sector has been preparing for significant reform with the introduction of the new Aged Care Act and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, which commenced on 1 November 2025. Under Ms Yen’s stewardship, Goodwin has proactively prepared for these changes, strengthening systems, training, and care practices to ensure they continue to meet and exceed the new standards.
Stepping into the role of Chair, Ms Jolly is an experienced director with a diverse background across private and public sectors. A practising corporate governance lawyer, she has a strong passion for the future of aged care and specialises in supporting organisations undergoing change. Ms Jolly is recognised for her integrity, strategic leadership, and collaborative approach. Having previously served as Vice Chair, she brings a deep understanding of Goodwin’s values and vision.
Goodwin also welcomed two new Board directors, Ms Julie Blackburn and Mr Bruce Papps, who bring extensive expertise across strategic leadership, risk, finance, audit, healthcare, and clinical governance. Their appointments further strengthen the Board’s capability as Goodwin continues to evolve to meet the needs of its communities.
Chief Executive Officer, Mr Stephen Holmes, said the Board transitions reflect Goodwin’s commitment to strong governance and continuous improvement.
“We’re incredibly grateful for Laurann and David’s leadership and the solid foundation they leave behind,” he said. “We’re equally excited to welcome Fiona as Chair and our new directors, whose skills and experience will be invaluable as we move forward.”
Goodwin extends its sincere thanks to Ms Yen and Mr Murphy for their service and warmly welcomes Ms Jolly as Board Chair, along with new directors Ms Blackburn and Mr Papps.
Goodwin remains dedicated to supporting older Australians to live well, with dignity, independence, and purpose.
