Today we announce the departure of Goodwin Board Chair Ms. Liesel Wett OAM and welcome incoming Chair Ms. Laurann Yen, effective 1 July 2024.
Joining the Goodwin Board in 2014, Ms. Yen has been an active and engaged participant, having chaired the Board’s Care and Clinical Governance committee and Resident General Forum for the last several years.
Ms. Yen’s many years of research and senior management experience throughout her career spanning psychology, health services and law are a great asset to Goodwin, providing deep insights into the challenges that face seniors, and the governance of services that can meet those challenges.
In accepting the appointment, Ms. Yen said, ‘I am incredibly honoured to accept the role of Chair of Goodwin Aged Care Services.’
‘This year of Goodwin’s 70th anniversary has highlighted the reputation that Goodwin has in the community, and I look forward to continuing to deliver the high standards we are proud to offer to our residents, clients, and families in our community.’
The Goodwin Board and Management would like to thank outgoing Board Chair Ms. Wett for her outstanding years of service since joining the Board in 2009, and her achievements as Chair since 2014.
Ms. Wett has guided the organisation through the industry-defining period of COVID-19 and the unsurpassed challenges that it brought.
Under Ms. Wett’s stewardship, Goodwin has achieved immense growth, including the development of our village at Crace, the redevelopment of our Farrer village, and the acquisition of The Manor and The Glen in Bateman’s Bay which also saw Goodwin’s home care services expand to the NSW South Coast. Ms. Wett was instrumental in Goodwin engaging the first full-time pharmacist on staff in 2018, an initiative which the federal government has now facilitated for residential aged care facilities across the country and which has made a real difference to the quality of life of our residents.
Ms. Wett’s contribution to Goodwin, as well as her work as CEO of Australian Pathology was recognised in 2022 with the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to medical administration.
‘My commitment over many years as a Director and Chair of Goodwin have been a privilege. The services that Goodwin has provided our community is something that I’ll always be proud of. Goodwin is an organisation that has a direct impact on people’s lives and wellbeing, and I’m extremely proud of having a hand in the growth of scale and quality of services.’ said Ms. Wett.
Goodwin extends a great thank you to Ms. Wett for her service, and warmly welcomes Ms. Yen.
